There are a number of things that you all need to be aware of in relation to the upcoming WHS.
Firstly, You can now access your new WHS handicap via the England golf website. This is not a difficult process. From the Club V1 (at the bottom of the page you will see “handicap certificate”) within this you will find your CDH number, make a record of this and go to the England web page follow the instructions and hey presto you will have your handicap. This will only work if you have supplied your e-mail address and DOB to England golf via South Kyme GC.
Secondly, because of the changes taking place ALL OF THE BOOKABLE COMPETITIONS WILL BE DATED 1ST NOVEMBER 2020. This is to allow us to book into the competitions. you will notice that the date of the actual competition will be *** 3RD NOVEMBER*** (for example) at the book in. The competitions will still be available to enter 2 weeks in advance. This is a short term thing until the WHS is fully up and running.

MEDAL OF MEDALS 22/10/20
THE DRAW FOR THE MEDAL OF MEDALS IS ON THE CLUB V1 SYSTEM. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PLAY PLEASE LET ANY MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
WINTER LEAGUE RULES
The Winter League is played each Tuesday between the beginning of November and the end of February but may be extended into March to try to ensure that at least 14 rounds are played.
The competition is a Stableford played over 14 holes
(1, 2 & 7 to 18).
Each player’s best 10 scores will be added together to give their final Winter League score. If 14 rounds have not been played by the end of March then the 4 worst scores will be discounted from the number of rounds played to that date. (i.e. 13 played, 9 to count, 12 played 8 to count, 11 played 7 to count etc).
There is also an eclectic competition where your best gross score on each hole is added together to give your eclectic score.
Both the eclectic and the Winter League competitions will be split into Div 1 (0 to 19) and Div 2 (20 to 54) with your club handicap as of week 1 determining which Division you play in for the entire competition. Your starting playing handicap will be 14/18ths of your club playing handicap.
Handicaps will be adjusted after each round in the following way: Your handicap will be deducted .3 for each point you score over 28 points and .1 will be added to your handicap for a score of less than 28 points.
Irrespective of this at no time can anyone play off a handicap higher than 14/18ths of their current club playing handicap.
If your club handicap decreases then the change will be applied to your Winter League handicap immediately, if your club handicap increases then the change will be applied to your Winter League handicap in accordance with the above rule.
Prizes will be awarded to the overall Winter League winner, the top players in each Division and the winner of each Division in the eclectic competition. There will also be prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each Division of the weekly rounds. All entry fees taken over the 4 months will be paid out in prizes. Historically prizes have been paid out to the top 6 to 8 people in each division. The entry fee will be £2 per week including a 50p 2s sweep. Due to the anticipated numbers expected to play each week there will not be the normal £2 entry fee this year.
PRIOR TO STARTING YOUR ROUND, PLEASE TAKE THE CORRECT ‘SENIORS WINTER LEAGUE’ SCORECARD – 0 TO 19 CLUB HANDICAP DIV 1, 20 TO 54 CLUB HANDICAP DIV 2. USING THE WRONG CARD MAY CAUSE YOUR SCORE TO BE OMITTED FROM PRIZE AWARDS.
AFTER PLAY PLEASE PLACE YOUR CARD IN THE SENIORS SECTION COMPETITION CARDS BOX WHICH WILL BE PLACED ON THE TABLE WHERE THE SCORECARDS ARE. THESE WILL THEN BE COLLECTED AFTER A COVID-19 SPECIFIED TIME HAS ELAPSED AND ACTIONED.
HANDICAP AND OTHER INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND ON THE NOTICE-BOARD ON THE FENCE/1st TEE SIDE OF THE HALFWAY HOUSE.
You will see that there are no competitions on the club V1 system for the senior section after 31/10/20. This is because the new World Handicap System (WHS) will be coming in at the beginning of November. The system should be up and running and the competitions will then be added again for entries. If this does not happen the booking system will still be available for any casual golf.
PLEASE READ THE BELOW FOR THE STAYERS SALVER
STAYERS SALVER 2020
The Stayers Salver will be competed for in conjunction with a Stableford competition on 22nd October 2020. This competition will be open for all Senior Section members to play in. Entry will be as normal using the ClubV1 booking system. The highest placed eligible player in that competition will be awarded the Salver. To be eligible to win the Salver you must not have won a major competition or monthly medal since November 2019 and have played in a minimum of 4 monthly medals in that time. This number is reduced from 6 to 4 for this year only as only 8 out of 12 medals were played due to the Covid19 lockdown.
SENIORS’ NOTICE BOARD
A new seniors’ Notice Board has now been placed on the side of the Halfway House between the Halfway House and the fence (1st Tee side).
MEDAL OF MEDALS – 22ND OCTOBER 2020
The draw for the 2020 Medal Of Medls is now available through the ClubV1 Members App.
As with most golf clubs different sections have their own day or morning. We as the senior section at South Kyme have a Thursday as our seniors day. Tuesdays are a bonus day for us and within the club it is known that Tuesday is Ladies day. There had been a few problems in the past on Tuesdays with the odd complaint about slow play and during the last management meeting the Ladies conceded that they would play in 4 balls to try and avoid catching up with the last seniors group. This had been working for a few weeks but on Tuesday this week there were only 8 ladies playing the course but they still managed to catch up with the last seniors group. That isn’t the problem as long as groups play at a steady pace, however the last group of seniors were up to 3 holes behind the group in front so were quite clearly not playing at a steady pace, not just that but this group failed to let the ladies through. When I took over as captain I said I would if needed fight the battles along with the rest of the committee to support the section. It is obvious that on this occasion there is no battle to fight. We all have a responsibility to play with others in mind, it is frustrating to say the least that this problem continues to occur. Having spoken to Roger Mead and the CCTV having been reviewed the last group out on Tuesday took about 4 1/2 hours to play 18 holes! There are times when this is unavoidable and I accept that this complaint made by the ladies is not directed at all of the seniors, unfortunately when it comes to responsibility it is all of us that get tarred with the same brush. If this continues I would expect the ladies to dig their heels in and push to have the seniors golf on Tuesdays suspended. I am meeting with the lady captain and the chairman on Tuesday to discuss this and will update you all with the outcome. In the meantime please be responsible and maintain the etiquette of golf but above all be gentlemen.

Seniors competition golf
As you will all have seen on the club V1 app there are a number of sections and club competitions that can be entered.
I explained in earlier updates that we as a section would not start playing full competition golf until August and the reasoning behind this decision.
I am pleased to let you know that we will have a full fixture list for August and September, I would like to say that I put a lot of work into the programme but all the thanks has to go to Bill Dark who has slaved hours to put it together, so there will be lots of trophies to play for in the coming months so get your bad rounds out of the way NOW.
I have posted the programme below with the date of the competition and also you will see the date you can enter via the club V1 system. The date in RED is the date you can add your name to the competition on the V1 system.
Your entry fee for all the competitions will be deducted from your club card when you book into the competition, the deduction will be from your bar account NOT winnings/shop account so please make sure you top up and have enough to cover your entry.
hopefully there will be no problems once we are up and running.
These have been trying times but I’m hoping we are nearly over the worst of it and we can get back to normal as soon as possible. I want to thank you all for you patience and understanding.

Update regarding seniors Golf.
As you are all probably aware the club are moving forward with competition golf.
As a section we decided that we would defer our competitions until the beginning of August. The committee are aware that although we are playing golf all of us want to be competing. There are a number of things within the V1 system that need to be updated and learnt by Pete Chamberlain and others administering the golf, not putting pressure on these people who are working hard to get things right by not having our own competitions at the moment means that any problems or training can be ironed out/done by the time we start in August. You will see from the V1 home hub page that we have a stableford competition on 4th August and the medal on 6th August.
PLEASE READ THE CAPTAINS BLOG
5th June 2020
As promised following the management meeting last night I am in a position to give you an update.
There were various topics discussed and the management committee are continuing to try and plan the next steps for the club so although you may well see things going on at other clubs, this does not mean that they will necessarily happen at South Kyme. The main focus has to be the safety of the members.
At this time as far as the senior section is concerned we will stay as we are with members booking their own tee times and playing casual golf, I have given the reasons for this in previous updates.
I have advised both the Chairman and Pete Chamberlain of our decision at this time with the review date of 01/08/20. As we are using the Club V1 booking system if we decide to change the review date and are in a position to meet up as close to normal as possible, there is a two week lead time to add new bookings.
There are a couple of dates that could be significant as far as the clubhouse, shop and bar are concerned.
15th June – Retail business can re-open with proper safety measures in place. This would mean that the shop could re-open with drinks etc available, the club would announce the procedure for using the shop in due course, I would expect that card payment would be the preferred option as with everywhere else.
4th July – There is a POSSIBILITY that the bar could be open by this date with the appropriate safety measures in place and social distancing being observed. Please note this is not a set in stone date and any opening of the shop and bar will be purely down to the guidance from the government and the committee.
I would ask you all to be patient and continue your support of the club and the section. These are unprecedented times and trying to plan for an uncertain future is difficult, though I can assure you the club are doing everything they can to get us back to near normal as soon as possible.
3rd June 2020
Following the resumption of golf it has been decided to update you all on the current position regarding the Seniors Section.
As of today all seniors section related golf will be suspended, this includes matches, roll ups and competitions. For the time being it has been decided that we carry on as we are, booking your own tee time and playing in up to 4 balls.
The reasoning behind this is that there will be members of the club who are either on furlough or worse out of work completely, therefore it was felt by the committee that to block book tee times would be unfair on other members of the Golf club.
This decision has not been taken lightly and will be constantly under review by the committee. All of us want to be back to near normal but the over riding factor has to be the safety and wellbeing of our members.
There is a management meeting tomorrow (04/06/20) any updates will be posted on here and also on the seniors captains blog.
21st March 2020
In light of recent developments with Coronavirus it has been decided that the Seniors section will no longer meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the foreseeable future. The course will still be open for individuals to play. We will keep you informed of any changes to this decision.
19th March 2020
SENIORS MONTHLY DRAW
This is just to inform all senior members that there will be no draw for this month or for the foreseeable future.
If you have already paid for this month it will be carried forward to the next draw.
17th March 2020
In line with Government guidelines on restricted travel, we have decided to cancel all the seniors matches for 12 weeks up to the 6th June 2020.
Members are also asked to self isolate for the required period if they have any symptoms associated with the coronavirus.
AMENDMENT TO TROPHIES QUALIFICATION RULE
An amendment to the Trophies Qualification Rule introduced at the 2019 AGM was put forward at the 2020 AGM and after discussion it was agreed that the following change would apply:
“Any Seniors Member who has not played golf during the previous calendar year due to a medical issue may apply, in writing, to the Seniors’ Committee for dispensation to enter and win Seniors’ Trophy Competitions”.

2020/2021 PROGRAMME BOOKLET
